There Will Always Be An England ♪...

But now I'm cheering for Germany :)

I have nothing much to say about the England vs. Germany game, other than England GOT THAT SECOND GOAL!

That's all.

All pictures taken from our travels in England, Greece, Egypt, and Uganda in 2009.

Growing Up

Other than World Cup (Go England! Advancing to the next round!!) not too much is happening. We're all getting ready to leave for Uganda at the end of July, which is very exciting, and Megan just wrote her first provincial exam last night. Unfortunately for her (and Adonis, who was her 'supervisor') it ended up being from 10pm to 1am our time. But she's finished it now, and has one more before the end of the school year, which is good. Joshua finished his last exam last week and is enjoying having free time- although he does seem to be bugging me to "do something" more often. Summer break isn't quite as exciting when all your friends are across the ocean.

We went to see Toy Story 3 yesterday, and absolutely loved it. The Numetro Theatre just introduced 3D movies last week, and so it was the first time most of the people in the theatre had seen a 3D movie (including Bibi and Act who came along with us) and there were many exclamations throughout the film :)

Andy's all grown up! And it was the same voice actor who played him as a kid in the first two, which I thought was pretty cool :)

I have to say, as much as I loved it, I definitely almost cried right there in the theatre. It is such a great movie, and the ending is so bittersweet that I couldn't help tearing up. I'm not going to say anything about the storyline, other than it's about growing up and moving on... but it made me think of all my old toys, sitting in the basement of our house back in Canada, and all the memories with friends and games and stories from back then; I miss being a little kid!

I definitely recommend watching it though, it's a good one :)

Kibaale Website

Click on this link to the Kibaale Website to see information about Kibaale Community Centre (where we will be in less than two months) and click on the "staff page", then "Ugandan Team" to see our family's picture, newly listed as part of the Canadian team in Uganda. Very exciting!!

Fifa Fan Fest: Chile vs. Honduras

Amidst a crowd full of Chile fans, we decided to cheer for Honduras.

Megan even found a great blue&white scarf in her closet to wear!

Ayana and I were really getting into it! :)

This one wasn't posed, Moses loved it.

Feel It, It is Here!

No recent stories or exciting pictures, but just thought I'd share this beautiful South Africa Bafana Bafana cake made by Liz, a good friend here. After this was taken she even wrote on it ('Can you Feel it? It is Here!'), but we forgot to take another picture.

World Cup excitement is still going strong!

WORLD CUP 2010!

I've never been much into soccer, but it is pretty amazing to be here in South Africa while it's all happening!

World Cup Fever is raging here, and SA Bafana Bafana fans are c.r.a.z.y.!

The picture was taken in Uganda, but the lyrics are from "Wavin' Flag" by K'naan, which had become the unofficial World Cup song here. It's a great song too.. especially the version sung by CANADIAN artists! Go Canada :)

In other news, it is now less than two months before we leave for Uganda! So exciting. We're loving being here in our new house though, it's so peaceful and relaxing. And lovely to be so much closer to town and Nelspruit!

Our Grandma is also going to be visiting for two weeks in July, which is so great... our first visitor!! (Besides Carissa back in the fall.. which was also amazing :) ) And two of my great friends from my school trip to Uganda last year are going to be visiting us in Kibaale in August, which I am just counting down the days for.

So there are exciting things happening in our near future! Although after the excitement of Moses lighting his blanket on fire two minutes ago and then shoving it under a plastic bag and running away, I'm not sure how much more we can take. I seriously worry for that child. He's just too naughty, adorable, hilarious and curious for his own good.

We found them sleeping like this the other day; not at all sure how it could be even remotely comfortable!

The weather here is actually becoming quite nice; it's cold! As in sweaters and jeans and socks every day, leaves falling off trees, see your breath in the air in the mornings cold. I'm absolutely LOVING it :)

These two pictures were taken in our backyard, it's so beautiful!!

Lyrics from the song "Only Hope", performed by Mandy Moore in the movie "A Walk To Remember".. both so great :)

PS.. Sorry about the link up in that second paragraph, not exactly sure what happened there. As far as I can tell it just opens up the "Wavin' Flag" picture in another tab.

My Poor Eye :(

This is the second time since arriving in South Africa that my left eye has inexplicably swollen up over night. I'll go to sleep and it feels a little sore, and when I wake up I look like a sad puppy dog :(

Any ideas as to what it might be and/or solutions to make it go down??

Not even makeup helps :(

Moving Day #2

Sorry about the lack of posts; our internet stick was broken for over a week, and we only just bought a new one.

We are now moved into our nice new house in White River. One of the most exciting features is that it has a TV which, despite the awful reception, is very nice to have, especially after 8 months without one!

Here are some pictures of our new place.. it's on beautiful grounds, and even has a small swimming pool. Although, ironically enough, it's freezing these days! Megan checked, and it was around 17 degrees today, but I was absolutely freezing, which I have to admit is a very welcome change. I'm sleeping with three or four blankets now.

The view from the front door into the kitchen/eating area.

The living/TV room.. although it's been arranged a bit differently now.

Joshua, Ayana, and Moses' Room

Mine and Megan's room: Before

Mine and Megan's room: After!

My side of the room :)

Most of our stuff is just going into storage.. there's no point in unpacking everything when we're moving in just under two months!

It was cloudy when I took this, but it's very pretty outside! The concrete on the right of the picture is a nice big patio area at the back of our house, and there are many plants and flowers (and dogs!) everywhere.

And, because I forgot to mention this before, here's a picture of poor Moses' eye. He fell out of a tree last week, and the branches very nearly cut his eye! Fortunately it just missed, but he is left with a swollen and scraped black eye.
